D.C. Finds Primary Success With the DS200 and ExpressVote

June 17, 2016

In our Nation’s capital, a desire for faster Election Night reporting and cost efficient Early Voting necessitated a voting solution with wireless modeming capabilities and flexibility for in-person voting. Selecting the ExpressVote Universal Voting System and the DS200 in-precinct scanner & tabulator addressed both needs while offering a simplified Election Day for both voters and election officials. Voters were given the choice to mark their selections on paper ballots or using the ExpressVote touch screen, later casting their vote with the DS200.

Following a successful Early Voting period and Primary Day, Election Night in D.C. was one for the books with 100% of their precincts being reported in less than two hours post-poll closing. ES&S takes our partnership with the D.C. Board of Elections seriously and applaud the hard work they put in to ensure a successful Primary.

Board of Elections contributed, “Voters found the system easy to use during public demonstrations.”

The Board of Elections also utilized wireless modeming to quickly report Election Night results with 93% of their precincts being reported within 40 minutes of polls closing. Wireless capabilities were part of the Board’s decision to go forward with the ExpressVote and DS200.

“Wireless modeming was a win for everyone during this Primary,” Ms. Mikhaylova added. “We were able to be 100% reported in less than two hours, a first for the District.”
