Our American Flag

July 6, 2016

A little over nine months ago, ES&S started on a journey. Our President and CEO, Tom Burt, was in search of an emblem of sorts. Something that could represent our company, our ideals and our dedication to democracy and our city. It didn’t take long to arrive at the obvious answer – an American flag that could fly high above our Omaha headquarters and be admired with pride by the 269,000 cars that pass by our building every day.

The American flag represents two things to ES&S: our country and our company. This flag is foremost a celebration of the freedoms we enjoy in this country. We are free to choose where we live, where we work and who we vote for. And as Americans, we sometimes take these freedoms for granted until they are threatened. Over the course of America’s history, every time freedom has been threatened our Armed Service members are there to protect it for us. This flag honors those individuals and the freedoms they secure for us.

This emblem also represents our company and the role we play in democracy. We create the backbone for America’s citizens to express one of their most fundamental freedoms: the right to vote. For nearly 40 years, we’ve done this with the help of our driven and dedicated employees alongside the nation’s passionate election officials. We have strong roots in Douglas County and have pride in the city we are headquartered in.

On July 1, 2016 we celebrated the July 4th weekend and the completion of our project with a flag raising ceremony. Below you can find the video footage from our livestream of the event as well as coverage from local news stations.

And if you are ever in Omaha driving by 112th and John Galt at night, we ask that you look out for our flag, lit brightly by LED lights and waving proudly. See that?  That’s Democracy.
