DHS to Host Second Annual National Exercise on Election Security

June 11, 2019

Election Systems and Software is proud to announce our support and participation in the second annual National Election Cyber Virtual Tabletop Exercise, “Tabletop the Vote 2019,” June 18- 20.

Tabletop the Vote 2019: National Election Cyber Virtual Tabletop ExerciseThis three-day virtual tabletop exercise, hosted by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), in close partnership with the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) and the National Association of State Election Directors (NASED), benefits not only the DHS and their federal partners, but also state and local election officials and private vendors.

Through a tabletop simulation of scenarios based on a combination of real-world events as well as potential risks facing election infrastructure, exercise participants discuss and examine potential impacts to voter confidence, voting operations and the integrity of elections — resulting in the identification of best practices and areas for improvement in cyber-incident planning, preparedness, identification, response and recovery.

In addition to our participation, the 2018 tabletop exercise participants included officials from 44 states and the District of Columbia, the Election Assistance Commission and law enforcement and intelligence agencies including the FBI, NSA and the U.S. Cyber Command.

On behalf of ourselves and our customers, ES&S once again looks forward to examining our ability to respond to cyber incidents and to improving communication and incident response plans across the election community.

ES&S customers who have questions or are interested in participating should contact their local DHS office or email [email protected].
