OMAHA, Neb. — The ExpressVote Universal Voting System is coming to Virginia.
On June 24, the Virginia State Board of Elections certified EVS 5201, the new election management system from Election Systems & Software that features the ExpressVote Universal Voting System.
The ExpressVote system combines paper-based voting with touch screen technology to create a voting solution technology that can serve every eligible voter, including those with disabilities.
“The certification of ExpressVote is exciting news because it places Virginia at the forefront of election technology,” said Mac Beeson, ES&S regional sales manager. “This will give election jurisdictions in the state the ability to purchase our advanced voting systems that are easy for election officials to implement and easy for voters to use.”
The ExpressVote system will make its debut in Fairfax County’s November 4 general election, which will mark the first-ever official use of ES&S’ innovative voting system.
Under the agreement, North Carolina-based Printelect Inc. will provide Fairfax County with ballot printing services, on-site support, Election Day support, training, equipment maintenance and project management.
